At the Royal Institute of British Architects in London, Polstore were commissioned to provide storage facilities for a large collection of architectural prints and negatives. Using a mixture of static universal shelving with drawers and mobile shelving the entire collection was accommodated in the newly created cold store. Thousands of slides and negatives are now stored in the optimal conditions meaning the collection is preserved using the ultimate in conservation techniques.

Negatives and transparencies being stored in Polstore Universal shelving in cold storage. Each drawer was subdivided with aluminium partitions enabling the collection to be efficiently organised. Note the drawer height was tailored to just exceed the heights of the negatives ensuring that no space was wasted.

Photographs, prints and negatives were stored in photographic boxes and then located on Polstore adjustable shelving. The photograph shows the organised manner in which a huge quantity of photographic media can be stored by Polstore's systems.
The shelving was located onto mobile bases. Due to the elimination of aisle space, huge space savings were created. Furthermore when the systems is not in use the system can be closed together for security and added protection from light and dust.
